About the position

The Medical Business Development Manager at Kistler is a pivotal role responsible for driving growth in the Medical Device and related industries. This position focuses on achieving strategic industry goals by actively engaging with clients in the Life Sciences sector, particularly within Southern California and the Western US territory. The manager will be tasked with visiting customer sites to identify projects and instrumentation requirements, providing expert advice on appropriate applications, and coordinating efforts with local Outside Sales Representatives to effectively sell the company's products. A typical day involves collaboration with outside consultants and potential clients to develop and maintain networks within the Life Sciences industry. The Business Development Manager will identify key decision-makers in organizations and align strategies with the Sales Manager to penetrate Medical OEMs, contract developers, and manufacturers. The role also includes developing and implementing sales strategies for the Medical Device market in North America, ensuring alignment with global strategic directives. The manager will continuously seek new application opportunities and market requirements, consulting with the Sales Manager and Application Experts to create specialized solutions. Conducting competitive analysis to inform sales and marketing strategies is essential, as is crafting the company's unique selling position in the targeted territory. The role also involves providing initial on-site sales support, facilitating client relationship building, and implementing strategies for key accounts in the Life Sciences sector. Additionally, the manager will assist marketing with targeted communications and participate in industry-specific trade shows, managing follow-ups on inquiries generated from these events. Overall, this position plays a crucial role in defining and executing global industry-specific strategies to achieve targeted revenue growth in the Life Sciences industry.

Responsibilities

  • Visit customer sites to identify projects and instrumentation requirements.
  • Provide advice on appropriate applications and coordinate with local Outside Sales Representatives.
  • Target Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Manufacturers and their supply chain in Southern California and the Western US.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants and engage in meetings with potential clients.
  • Identify potential clients and key decision-makers within organizations.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies in conjunction with the Sales Manager.
  • Continuously identify new application opportunities and unique market requirements.
  • Conduct thorough competitive analysis to inform sales and marketing strategies.
  • Provide initial on-site sales support and facilitate client relationship building.
  • Assist marketing with targeted communications and planning for trade shows.
  • Actively participate in industry-specific trade shows and manage follow-ups on inquiries.
  • Lead and coordinate local medical device initiatives encompassing sales, application & service, marketing, and strategy activities.
  • Contribute to defining and executing global industry-specific strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college; master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in technical sales and marketing in the medical device and related industries.
  • Proven ability to succeed in business development or technical sales roles in the Medical Device industry.
  • Understanding of regulations and requirements associated with Medical Device Manufacturing.
  • Market knowledge and analysis capability.
  • Knowledge of Process Automation and Process Monitoring applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sensors, electronics, software, and communication protocols is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
