About the position

The Business Development Manager at TÜV Rheinland is responsible for identifying and developing new growth and business opportunities within assigned business fields, product lines, or territories. This role involves utilizing market research and various sales techniques to acquire new clients and generate additional revenue from existing clients. The position requires a thorough understanding of TÜV's services and the ability to communicate effectively with potential clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and achieving sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new growth and business opportunities within assigned Business Field/Product Line/Territory.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of TÜV's services to communicate effectively with potential clients.
  • Utilize various sales techniques including cold calls, trade show leads, and industry contacts to promote TÜV services.
  • Determine and implement marketing strategies to increase business.
  • Analyze market data and trends to identify new client markets and create marketing plans.
  • Make calls, conduct face-to-face meetings, and deliver sales presentations to potential clients.
  • Recruit, quote, negotiate terms, and close new business deals.
  • Develop and maintain contacts and prospect lists to expand industry awareness of TÜV services.
  • Act as a liaison with clients and other TÜV staff to ensure service delivery.
  • Provide reporting to management on sales volume and potential sales.
  • Update and maintain the sales database.
  • Expand knowledge of the industry and competitive posture of the company.
  • Travel to and participate in various trade shows as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a technical discipline such as Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 6 years of progressive marketing/sales experience in product safety/quality/customer service industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Valid Passport and Driver's License required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the testing, inspection, and certification service industry.
  • Familiarity with international business practices.
