About the position

Mubea, a leading automotive supplier with a rich history dating back to 1916, is seeking a Business Development Manager to oversee the development of Mubea Precision Steel Tubes. This role is pivotal in managing business development activities, which include creating target roadmaps, building partnerships with customers, and leading negotiations. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for opportunity management, defining requests, and leading pre-sales activities in collaboration with the Engineering team. The position also involves closing deals and managing accounts effectively. The successful candidate will lead a small sales team based in Michigan, USA, and Celaya, Mexico, ensuring that the voice of the customer is represented within the organization. This role requires a strategic mindset to develop and implement sales plans that align with corporate goals. The Business Development Manager will direct sales forecasting activities, set performance goals, and support market analyses to understand customer needs and pricing strategies. They will also be the primary point of contact for customers, maintaining a comprehensive contact database and driving the team to deliver tailored solutions. In addition to these responsibilities, the Business Development Manager will represent Mubea at trade association meetings, deliver impactful sales presentations, and maintain relationships with key customer roles. The role requires coordination between the sales department and other related units, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. The candidate will also prepare periodic sales reports, track back-office sales tasks, and support sales planning efforts within the corporate framework. Monitoring competition and understanding market dynamics are also essential components of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business development for Mubea Precision Steel Tubes.
  • Develop target roadmaps and build partnerships with customers.
  • Lead negotiations and manage opportunities effectively.
  • Define requests and lead pre-sales activities in collaboration with Engineering.
  • Close deals and manage accounts to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Lead a small sales team based in Michigan and Celaya, Mexico.
  • Implement strategic sales plans to meet corporate goals.

  • Conduct market analyses to determine customer needs and pricing schedules.
  • Prepare and execute outreach to prospective customers.
  • Maintain a contact database and drive tailored solutions for customers.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings and industry groups.
  • Deliver sales presentations highlighting customer benefits and unique selling propositions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with buyers and purchasing directors.
  • Coordinate communication between the sales department and other units.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume and potential expansion areas.
  • Support sales planning and monitor competition activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive sales and account management of technical products.
  • Familiarity with Tier 1 customers and benefits of local production under USMCA rules.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Fluency in English and familiarity with the automotive business environment in the US Mid-West and Mexico.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in steel tubes sales in North America.
  • Willingness to travel (25%+).
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Background in automotive manufacturing or engineering sales.
  • Experience in a Germany-based international organization.
  • Basic knowledge of German.
