About the position

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, prospecting, and securing business opportunities to drive new revenue growth within a designated geographic area. This role involves developing and implementing sales strategies for both new and existing client accounts, collaborating with field management on sales activities, and achieving profit results aligned with company forecasts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop account sales plans/approaches with Manager on a minimum of 30 target accounts.
  • Identify prospects and develop sales strategies to secure new business, including sales calls and competitive analysis.
  • Conduct prospect and account sales calls independently and with branch office staff as prioritized by Manager.
  • Function as the lead sales resource on identified target accounts and create account plans.
  • Partner with branch office and Headquarters staff to enhance product knowledge needed to close sales.
  • Support driving sales closure to shorten sales cycles and meet sales goals.
  • Analyze prospect requirements to understand how company products can meet their needs.
  • Establish contacts in the business community and participate in local networking events.
  • Record all business and sales activity in the company database and complete required activity reports.
  • Respond quickly to all customer and prospect inquiries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous business development experience.
  • At least 3 years of proven outside direct sales experience, including developing sales strategies and conducting cold calls.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic math skills in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency in sales and service activities.
  • Strong leadership skills and creativity in identifying successful techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to all clients.
