About the position

The Business Development Manager at Fathom is a pivotal role responsible for driving new business through the application of the company's industry-leading technologies. This position requires a strategic direction and a consultative approach, combined with a high level of business acumen, to ensure long-term growth and success. The Business Development Manager will be an integral member of the sales team, focusing on direct sales to end users. The individual will proactively manage a designated geographic territory to maximize sales opportunities. This includes responding to leads, conducting face-to-face client visits, prospecting for new clients, maintaining regular contact with existing accounts, and obtaining referrals from satisfied customers. In this role, the Business Development Manager will be tasked with developing and executing strategic prospecting initiatives aimed at creating new business relationships. This involves utilizing a consultative approach to assess client needs and identify organizations where Fathom can provide significant value. The position also requires successful engagement with various stakeholders, including OEM engineers, project managers, design engineers, and production managers, to foster strong customer relationships. The manager will be responsible for ongoing account management, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining accounts to cultivate long-term relationships that maximize opportunities. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will drive partnerships that meet and exceed revenue targets, manage a direct account base, and build territory plans to achieve growth objectives. Continuous improvement of sales processes in collaboration with the sales team and management is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to create new business relationships.
  • Engage successfully with end users and necessary internal sectors, including OEM engineers, PMs, DEs, and production managers.
  • Manage and ensure the success of Fathom customers through ongoing account management and customer satisfaction.
  • Build long-term customer relationships to cultivate accounts and maximize opportunities.
  • Drive partnerships that meet and exceed revenue targets and meet annual sales quotas by direct selling the full suite of Fathom services.
  • Manage a direct account base and build territory plans to meet growth objectives.
  • Continually develop improvements for sales and processes in conjunction with the sales team and managers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing, manufacturing processes, materials, and the new product development process.
  • Engineering or Industrial Design degree preferred.
  • Successful track record in complex, consultative engagements advocating for technology adoption.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, including technical communication.
  • Professional demeanor, patience, and exceptional listening skills when interacting with customers and partners.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for new manufacturing technologies and their positive impact on clients.
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic, growing company.
  • Team player with a positive attitude; self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
