About the position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Ryder is responsible for developing new customer business within an assigned sales territory. This role focuses on educating prospects about Ryder's services and creating value perceptions through strategic sales planning and analysis. The BDM is expected to be a proactive hunter, driving sales growth and managing customer relationships effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pre-sales strategy for target accounts.
  • Develop a sales activity pipeline to meet and exceed quota revenues.
  • Respond proactively to leads furnished.
  • Represent the full spectrum of Ryder services.
  • Work with ARs and CDMs to transition accounts and increase sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with National Sales to generate sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Ensure completion of new customer orientation.
  • Work with DSDs to develop DCC opportunities.
  • Identify prospect needs and value components through quality needs assessment and proposal preparation.
  • Develop account selling strategies to improve effectiveness.
  • Familiarize GMs & CDMs with sales in progress and their potential impact.
  • Contribute to effective transition of sold accounts.
  • Perform administrative functions necessary to support accounts.
  • Report sales activity to management.
  • Engage in sales protocol and SOM compliance activities.
  • Create supportive working relationships with CBUs.
  • Leverage resources to expand new opportunities.
  • Develop account profile information on all prospect solicitations.
  • Engage in training and improvement of sales skills and industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent field required.
  • Five (5) years or more of demonstrated consecutive sales excellence in prior sales responsibilities required.
  • Good understanding of Ryder's product offerings required.
  • Ability to interpret financial data required.
