About the position

The Business Development Representative - Field Sales at Quill, a part of Staples, is responsible for driving new revenue growth by converting prospects into customers within the Houston, Texas territory. This role involves building sales programs, qualifying leads, presenting solutions, and ensuring a smooth transition to account management. The representative will also attend events and conferences to represent Quill and engage with potential customers, aiming to exceed sales quotas and contribute positively to the company culture.

Responsibilities

  • Drive conversion of 1M new revenue from new customers.
  • Build programs to orchestrate sales growth in the public sector and commercial market.
  • Qualify prospects based on customer size, spend, and potential.
  • Schedule appointments and meet with prospective customers in person.
  • Utilize marketing collateral to create engaging presentations.
  • Attend conferences, tradeshows, and events to represent Quill.
  • Create and present custom pricing solutions to potential customers.
  • Leverage education contracts to acquire new customers.
  • Ensure smooth transition to the account management team upon customer commitment.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM, including activity logs and pipeline.
  • Seek ways to improve and apply coaching from managers and peers.
  • Build trust and lead by example within the team.
  • Champion company values and services to drive revenue growth.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • 4+ years of field sales experience
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Self-starter with results-oriented mindset
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle rejection and view challenges as opportunities

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months+ of relevant experience in the public sector market
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proven business development experience
