About the position

The Business Development Representative (Outbound) role at HealthStream is designed to generate interest, develop leads, and increase market share for the company's healthcare solutions. This position involves collaborating with sales leadership, marketing, and product management to qualify new leads through various outreach methods, including telephone and email campaigns. The role aims to achieve a target number of qualified leads and discovery calls, serving as a stepping stone for a future sales role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
  • Work closely with HealthStream solution teams to develop a deep understanding of assigned solutions.
  • Become knowledgeable in the healthcare marketplace to understand the target audience.
  • Follow up, develop, and qualify identified leads.
  • Demonstrate HealthStream solutions to key stakeholders, present value propositions, and answer questions.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities by aligning HealthStream solutions with prospect initiatives and securing stakeholder sponsorship.
  • Contribute to the HealthStream Sales Community by sharing best practices and facilitating internal discussions.
  • Leverage personal and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and prepare for other sales roles.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Project Managers to create value-added customer solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to quickly develop relationships with various stakeholders, including C-suite executives and departmental directors.
  • Prior experience as a Business Development Representative (BDR) or in sales is a plus.
  • Experience with cold calling into prospective accounts is a plus.
  • Strong leadership qualities and a team player mentality.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as SalesForce.
  • Prior BDR or sales experience.
  • Experience in the healthcare marketplace.
