About the position

The Business Development / Sales Professional at Special Testing Laboratories is responsible for generating and building new business while maintaining ongoing relationships within the construction industry. This role involves managing bids, proposals, and pricing, as well as prospecting for new clients and ensuring customer retention. The ideal candidate is motivated, enjoys teamwork, and is eager to learn, contributing to the company's growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage bidding, proposals, and pricing.
  • Work directly with management to maintain relationships and keep them informed of project progress.
  • Identify upcoming projects and stay updated on time-frames.
  • Prospect and generate new business through leads and referrals.
  • Acquire new clients and retain existing customers.
  • Network with local groups and associations to find new business opportunities.
  • Continuously seek industry knowledge to act as an expert for clients.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of successful sales experience preferred, but less experience with the right attitude is welcome.
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree required.
  • Ability to set and achieve sales goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and follow-through abilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and co-workers.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, or ability to learn.
