About the position
The Business Engagement Specialist at Easterseals-Goodwill is responsible for recruiting participants for the Senior Community Service Employment Program and building relationships with local businesses. This role focuses on empowering seniors to improve their economic self-sufficiency through coaching, job readiness training, and support in securing employment. The specialist will work collaboratively with a team of employment specialists to ensure participants develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in the workforce.
Responsibilities
- Recruit participants for the Senior Community Service Employment Program.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations.
- Gather and maintain current labor market and business data for participants.
- Monitor job openings and inform participants of employment opportunities.
- Organize and present job readiness classes, including facilitating weekly training sessions.
- Develop community service assignments for participants to enhance their skills according to their Individual Employment Plan.
- Increase awareness of the Senior Community Service Employment Program in assigned counties.
- Document work with participants to ensure their success and career advancement.
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Working knowledge of community resources and employers.
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds.
- Proven interviewing, counseling, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to change.
Nice-to-haves
- Degree in social services or a related field (preferred but not required).
- 0-2 years of experience in job development and/or employment placement.
