About the position

The Data Governance Engineer I position is a critical role within our organization, primarily focused on supporting the accounting reference data and project-related activities. This role involves day-to-day functions that ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within the 1ERP Environment (SAP). The Data Governance Engineer will provide essential end-user support, conduct data analysis, and interact closely with supervisors, accountants, and IT staff to facilitate smooth operations and data management processes. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for overseeing the help desk operations to resolve issues and create trouble tickets with the IT department. This includes managing data processes and ensuring data quality, which is vital for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations, ERP security, and internal and external audit requests. The engineer will also be tasked with identifying areas for enhancement and opportunities to streamline existing processes, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial systems, procedures, and verification processes, along with experience in SAP. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to mine various data sources for visualization and analysis of complex data structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, as well as excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide insight on assigned Data Governance tasks.
  • Ensure accuracy of reference data owned by the accounting team in the 1ERP Environment (SAP).
  • Oversee the help desk to resolve issues and create trouble tickets with IT.
  • Manage data processes and ensure data quality.
  • Support Sarbanes Oxley, ERP security, and internal and external audit requests.
  • Identify areas of enhancement and opportunities to streamline processes.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience with financial systems, procedures, and verification.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience mining various data sources and providing visualization and analysis of complex data structures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with successful ERP implementations.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and concepts.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite applications.
