About the position

The Business Insurance Underwriting Program Internship at Travelers Insurance offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance underwriting field. This 10-week program is designed for undergraduate students, providing them with essential training in evaluating risks and determining pricing for insurance products. Interns will work closely with designated coaches, complete core assignments, and engage in meaningful projects that contribute to their professional development and understanding of the property and casualty insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Complete core assignments and training modules related to insurance and underwriting principles.
• Participate in self-paced professional development courses in time management, presentation skills, and other key areas.
• Complete challenging project work, including territorial risk assessments and business process analyses, and present findings to local leadership.
• Learn about other areas at Travelers, such as Risk Control and Claims, and engage in Agency visits with Account Executives.
• Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience, including Executive Speaker Series, Networking events, and Intern Symposium for Rising Seniors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

• Interest in entering the insurance industry and pursuing a career in underwriting.
• Background in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Liberal Arts (with business focus), Management, Marketing, or Risk Management and Insurance.
