About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst position at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) focuses on enhancing decision-making through data analysis and reporting within the Emergency Medicine Department. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop, validate, and maintain business intelligence solutions that support clinical, operational, and financial reporting needs. The analyst will leverage existing BI assets and adhere to OHSU's software development methodology, ensuring compliance with data governance and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the OHSU Emergency Medicine Department's reporting and analytics needs across various data domains.
  • Develop, validate, test, and maintain BI solutions in collaboration with peers and leadership.
  • Document scope and requirements for BI projects.
  • Leverage existing OHSU BI assets and standard content when appropriate.
  • Follow OHSU software development methodology and adhere to data governance and report standards.
  • Provide consulting and technical expertise to assist clinical BI end users and team members.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field with four years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree with six years of experience; OR Associate's degree with seven years of experience; OR eight years of relevant experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of paid work experience as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or BI Developer.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in Business Objects Web Intelligence or equivalent toolset.
  • Experience facilitating and documenting system requirements sessions.
  • Experience creating technical documentation of reports and data/report models.
  • Minimum five years working with relational databases.
  • Experience utilizing star schema data stores for report development.
  • Proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and procedures.
  • Ability to read and explain a data model and maintain SQL code.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling concepts.
