About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst IV role at Guardian Life focuses on identifying business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs for the Dental and Disability Claims Operations. The position aims to improve risk management and operational efficiency by transforming data into actionable insights. Analysts work closely with BI Consultants, end users, and IT teams to provide accurate and reliable information that supports sound business decisions. They are responsible for educating business partners on data usage and developing analytical tools and dashboards to enhance decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently on complex, cross-functional analytical projects.
  • Provide analytical subject matter expertise and recommendations to Claims & Service organization.
  • Participate in workstream planning including inception, technical design, development, testing, and delivery of BI analytics solutions.
  • Conduct analyses of functional business processes and requirements, supporting process changes and IT projects.
  • Research business problems and create models for analysis.
  • Provide design support for business intelligence solutions for Dental and Disability Claims.
  • Participate in project management estimation and lean business case development.
  • Evaluate internal and external customer needs to provide appropriate solutions.
  • Advise executives on the role of BI in improving claims management and optimization.
  • Explore data to discover patterns, relationships, anomalies, and trends.
  • Develop work plans and manage workflows to meet timeframes.
  • Develop best practices for report deployments and recommend quality metrics.
  • Align BI technologies with strategic initiatives.
  • Stay updated on BI products/tools and business strategies.
  • Train users, including executives, to transform data into actionable information.
  • Identify new technology opportunities impacting Enterprise-wide BI systems.
  • Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Finance) or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Business Analyst / Business Intelligence Analysis or related technical experience.
  • Experience within an insurance and/or healthcare organization, preferably in dental and disability analytics related to Claims & Service.
  • High level of experience with databases, SQL, and business intelligence tools (Business Objects, Alteryx).
  • Strong working knowledge of Claims & Service business functions, processes, and transactions.
  • High level of experience with technology system processes, reporting functions, and methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with associates across various departments and with business and IT partners.
  • High level of experience with Visual analytics and BI tools (Tableau).
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools beyond Tableau.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
