About the position

The Cloud Architect position is a 12-month contract role focused on developing and implementing cloud strategies and architectures for clients. This remote opportunity requires a deep understanding of cloud services, particularly AWS and Azure, and the ability to assess existing infrastructure and applications to determine their readiness for cloud migration. The role involves designing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions that align with the client's mission objectives. The Cloud Architect will lead the planning and execution of cloud migration projects, ensuring the selection of appropriate migration archetypes and strategies. In this role, the Cloud Architect will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of various cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). They will provide technical guidance on cloud-native application development and modernization, architecting solutions that utilize services such as AWS EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Azure VMs, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Synapse, Azure Databricks, and Azure Functions. The position also requires leading discussions on application modernization strategies, including containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and serverless computing. Best practices for refactoring, re-platforming, and rehosting applications in the cloud will also be implemented as part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of existing infrastructure and applications to determine cloud readiness.
  • Develop and implement cloud migration/modernization strategies that align with the client's mission objectives.
  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions using AWS and Azure services.
  • Lead the assessment and planning of cloud migration projects, including the selection of appropriate cloud migration archetypes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 12+ years of experience in cloud architecture, engineering, and operations
  • 4+ years of experience in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) preferred
  • Proven experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including hands-on implementation of cloud services.
  • Extensive experience in application modernization, cloud migration, and DevSecOps practices.
