About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst at the University of Texas at San Antonio plays a crucial role in supporting data analytics, financial analyses, project management, and process improvement. This position serves as a strategic resource that bridges the gap between data and business decisions, providing actionable insights to enhance decision-making and improve overall business performance within the Academic Affairs Finance and Administration team.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, data collection systems, and data analytics strategies.
  • Collects, maintains, and interprets data, analyzing results using various techniques and providing ongoing reports.
  • Acquires data from primary and secondary sources and validates it for institutional stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the collection and processing of data for ad hoc reports and surveys related to financial planning and analysis.
  • Evaluates and identifies gaps in operational processes and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Captures process steps through process maps and diagrams to visualize workflows and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring progress and measuring the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets data trends in complex datasets and presents findings to stakeholders.
  • Implements and delivers BI and data management projects on time using a disciplined project management approach.
  • Provides institutional performance monitoring, information gathering, and reporting.
  • Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to inform projects and ensure alignment with goals.
  • Assists leadership in leveraging data to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Coordinates responses for institutional information requests from various entities.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of data sources and analysis procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Excel and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Three years of experience in data analysis or related duties.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team setting and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with financial or budget planning software (Hyperion, PeopleSoft).
  • Five years of experience in data analysis or related duties.
  • Analytics, finance, or project management credentials.
  • Experience in an academic research administration setting.
  • Knowledge of UT System rules and regulations.
  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or large language model tools.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 annually.
  • Full-time employment with potential for overtime and weekend work as needed.
