About the position

The position involves supporting Claims operations at USAA by transforming data into insights and interactive visualizations. The selected candidate will lead analytic initiatives using tools such as SQL, Tableau, Python, and Sigma, while managing multiple projects simultaneously. The role emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning to enhance the Business Intelligence capability within the P&C Claims Analytics organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and participates in gathering complex business requirements by partnering with customers to define business problems and data needs.
  • Utilizes an advanced understanding of multiple data structures and sources to lead the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions.
  • Strategically partners with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures and related business intelligence efforts.
  • Applies data visualization best practices to identify and interpret trends or patterns while following standard Enterprise branding.
  • Acts as a trusted data visualization advisor to stakeholders to drive business value.
  • Provides system thinking to influence relevant data, information, and application architecture decisions.
  • May serve as an Agile champion responsible for methodology, execution, and team education on best practices.
  • Mentors team members on business intelligence tools, techniques, and processes.
  • Participates in industry groups to keep abreast of trends and share best practices.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field or 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics.
  • 6 years of data & analytics experience or a combination of 4 years of data & analytics experience and up to 2 years of progressive functional business experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying innovative approaches to address moderately complex business problems.
  • Advanced experience developing business deliverables that leverage business intelligence platforms and SQL-based languages.
  • Proven ability to leverage or build business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at various levels.
  • Expert-level communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to all management levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or more years of P&C Claims experience.
  • 1 or more years of project management and Agile experience.
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, Python, and data prep/transformation.
  • Excellent presentation and PowerPoint skills; experience presenting to senior leaders.
