About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst position at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory's Business Services Division offers an exciting opportunity to engage in business intelligence, analytics, and data management. Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the role involves providing management decision support through various tools and maintaining effective relationships across finance functions. The ideal candidate will balance customer service with compliance, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of enterprise data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex project and analytical work in business intelligence activities.
  • Ensure uniformity, accuracy, and semantic consistency of enterprise data through effective data management processes.
  • Develop insightful business intelligence reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Clean and transform data to deliver actionable information.
  • Collaborate with application developers, end users, and management to create business intelligence solutions.
  • Facilitate working sessions to document current information flows and data models.
  • Originate and coordinate data governance assignments.
  • Identify and correct problematic data, recommending solutions and communicating impacts.
  • Perform fit-gap analysis comparing existing reporting solutions with BI strategy.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing of new BI systems and document results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems.
  • Three years of relevant experience in business intelligence or analytics.
  • Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics, or engineering.
  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities and business processes.
  • Ability to apply software development lifecycle and project management techniques.
  • Experience in data analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability with enterprise application and database-driven applications.
  • Experience with relational and dimensional logical data modeling.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office and analytical programs such as OBIEE, Tableau, and SAS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning.
