About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst position at the Oregon Department of Education is a permanent, full-time role focused on administering the Business Intelligence (BI) program within the Office of Finance and Information Technology. The analyst will oversee daily operations, ensure effective use of BI tools, manage data validation processes, and support the development and implementation of new BI tools and analytics platforms. This role is crucial for aligning the BI program with organizational goals and facilitating data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the BI program by overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring effective use of business intelligence tools.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of existing BI systems, including data validation processes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures for the smooth operation of BI systems and data validation protocols.
  • Continuously monitor the performance and effectiveness of BI systems and data validation processes, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct data quality assurance reviews to ensure data accuracy and timeliness for decision-making purposes.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the BI program and other internal departments, ensuring effective communication of BI and data validation needs.
  • Represent the BI program in cross-departmental meetings, collaborating with IT, senior management, and external partners.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field with two years of experience coordinating or administering a program.
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience supporting education, accounting, budget, and financial data.
