About the position
The University of Virginia is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to turn broad data streams into actionable information for business partners, including Advancement leadership, prospect managers, and front-line development officers. This role is critical in analyzing the UVA prospect pipeline to provide insights that drive fundraising activity. The analyst will perform strategic data review and analysis through the creation of reports and data extracts using SQL, Tableau, and other BI tools, translating the analysis to inform business processes. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, analyzing, and contributing to the design of comprehensive data visualizations and reports, reviewing and monitoring prospect and proposal pipeline data, and providing reporting and analysis support in areas such as campaign progress and annual giving. The analyst will also serve as a technical resource and mentor to colleagues, contribute to ad hoc analytics work, and seek opportunities for professional development.
Responsibilities
- Turn broad data streams into actionable information for business partners.
- Analyze the UVA prospect pipeline to provide insights that drive fundraising activity.
- Perform strategic data review and analysis through the creation of reports and data extracts using SQL, Tableau, and other BI tools.
- Conceptualize, analyze, and contribute to the design of comprehensive data visualizations and reports.
- Review, monitor, and contribute to prospect and proposal pipeline data.
- Provide reporting and analysis support in the areas of campaign progress, annual giving, and engagement.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to colleagues.
- Contribute to ad hoc Analytics and Prospect Management work.
- Seek opportunities for professional development.
- Remain current on economic conditions and philanthropic trends.
- Develop reporting methodologies to support organizational goals.
- Articulate complex ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet short deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or a related business intelligence discipline and three years of business intelligence experience.
- 3 years of experience manipulating data.
- 2 years of experience with creation/refinement of data visualizations and dashboard development.
- 3 years of experience working with key stakeholders providing business analysis to drive performance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- OR Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or a related business intelligence discipline and one year of business intelligence experience.
- 1 year of experience manipulating data.
- 1 year of experience with creation/refinement of data visualizations and dashboard development.
- 1 year of experience working with key stakeholders providing business analysis to drive performance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
