About the position

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) plays a crucial role in developing and implementing BI solutions that support the organization's strategic priorities. This position involves working closely with both internal and external customers to gather requirements and create effective reporting and analytic solutions, contributing to improved clinical performance and operational quality.

Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze requirements from internal and external customers.
• Develop business intelligence solutions using various underlying technologies.
• Contribute to the design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of reporting and analytic solutions.
• Support strategic organizational priorities, including population health management and clinical performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, computer science, physics, information systems, actuarial science, or a related computational field.
• At least two years of business intelligence and analytics experience, including data discovery/visualization applications and databases.
• Hands-on experience with business intelligence and statistical programming/analysis tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, Olik, or R.
• Proficiency in one computer programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java, Perl).
• Knowledge of database design, problem analysis, and relational database concepts.
• Skilled in developing applications using PL/SQL, JavaScript, and HTML.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree preferred.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Familiarity with HL7 interfaces and ETL processes desired.
• Prior experience in healthcare and with clinical claims data preferred.
• Experience with transaction systems such as Epic, McKesson, or Lawson preferred.
