About the position

The Business Intelligence Data Analyst II position at McLaren Health Care is a critical role responsible for the governance, extraction, normalization, reporting, and analytics of healthcare data. This position involves a comprehensive approach to data manipulation, validation, and cleansing, ensuring that the data used for reporting and analysis is accurate and reliable. The analyst will aggregate disparate data from both internal and external systems, which may come in various formats, and develop meaningful reports that assist leadership in monitoring and achieving performance objectives. In this role, the analyst will design and develop data visualization solutions that effectively communicate results to key decision-makers. The position requires diving into large and complex healthcare datasets to produce innovative analyses of historical patterns and insights, particularly focusing on the integrity of the source data and the processes involved in data management. The essential functions of the role include managing the importing, exporting, and mining of large healthcare data sets, constructing and refreshing data queries for staff, and resolving discrepancies to instill stakeholder confidence in reporting accuracy. The analyst will also develop reporting for data governance, including trends and statistical analyses of data quality and integrity, and recommend workflow processes to ensure timely and accurate data receipt and transfer. Collaboration with stakeholders is key, as the analyst will gather business needs, establish project scopes, manage timelines, and meet deadlines. Additionally, the analyst will create reports and dashboards, enhance their knowledge of healthcare data and information technology, and coordinate special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the importing, exporting and mining of large healthcare data
  • Aggregates disparate clinical and financial data in various formats
  • Constructs data queries, or refreshes data queries for staff to retrieve pertinent clinical or administrative data
  • Resolves discrepancies with data and instills stakeholder confidence in reporting accuracy
  • Develops reporting for data governance including trends and statistical analysis of data quality and integrity
  • Recommends workflow processes and procedures to monitor timely and accurate receipt and transfer of data
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather business needs, establish scope of projects, manage project timelines, and meet deadlines
  • Develops data preparation and validation routines to support data mining
  • Collaborates to define and create appropriate key performance indicators
  • Creates reports and dashboards for stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Continually enhances knowledge of healthcare data and information technology
  • Coordinates and oversees special projects as identified and assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned or when necessary to maintain efficient operations of the department and McLaren Health Care as a whole.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering, health informatics technology or related field
  • Three years' experience in data analytics with data mining or a master's degree plus one year experience
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience with data mining, data analysis and reporting.
