About the position

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer/Administrator at the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is responsible for overseeing the creation and management of BI and analytics solutions that transform data into valuable insights. This role involves collaborating with various business units to translate business needs into technical specifications, designing and deploying BI solutions, and maintaining existing data analytics platforms. The position plays a crucial role in enhancing the business intelligence system to support informed decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs to technical specifications.
  • Design, build and deploy BI solutions as needed.
  • Develop documentation and training materials to support BI users.
  • Maintain and support existing and/or new data analytics platforms.
  • Track, manage, and report on key system metrics, including infrastructure capacity and security issues.
  • Perform data analysis to deliver accurate and timely reports to senior team members.
  • Define business requirements for reporting solutions including reports, dashboards, and specialized queries.
  • Test and troubleshoot system issues as needed.
  • Develop and update technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in data and business analysis with analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience designing and implementing a semantic layer on top of Snowflake and/or Postgres databases in a MS Azure environment.
  • Direct experience with healthcare data such as claims data and eligibility data is a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience working with industry-leading BI tools and technologies.
  • Experience leading a business-wide BI solution implementation.
  • Experience assisting clients in a consulting capacity with BI tools and technologies.
  • Ability to think critically about business needs and recommend BI solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot BI issues and provide support to BI users.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare data analytics.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality best practices.
