About the position

The Ambulatory Ops Business Intelligence Developer is a key member of the Ambulatory Transformation and Performance (ATP) team at UCLA Health. This role focuses on developing and delivering advanced reporting and analytics solutions to enhance the efficiency and financial viability of ambulatory clinics. The developer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of clinical informatics systems, collaborating with various teams to ensure data integrity and system reliability. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to mentor junior analysts while driving actionable insights through advanced analytics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver advanced reporting and analytics solutions to support the ATP mission.
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of clinical informatics systems.
• Collaborate with clinical, technical, and business teams to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
• Gather business needs, document requirements, and identify appropriate data sources for reporting.
• Design and write new or modify existing applications to meet user needs.
• Interact with key stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of analytical needs.
• Translate requirements into business intelligence solutions that drive business decisions.
• Lead the development and optimization of complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Design, develop, and perform thorough functional testing of reports and dashboards.
• Monitor report performance and take corrective action as necessary.
• Perform advanced quality assurance testing and document system changes.
• Track operational metrics and perform sensitivity analysis.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical informatics and provide technical support.
• Manage the operational analytics program life cycle from initiation to deployment.
• Produce monthly Tableau dashboards focusing on various operational metrics.
• Assist in data collection from clinic and division managers and other offices.
• Provide ongoing user training and produce training curricula.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a healthcare-related organization.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data architecture with strong SQL programming skills (MS T-SQL and/or Oracle PL/SQL).
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, or a related area, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Proficient understanding of controlled terminology, clinical workflows, and clinical decision support.
• Advanced organizational and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to convey technical information clearly.
• Advanced problem-resolution skills for diagnosing complex issues.
• Expertise in analytical skills, documentation, and reporting.
