About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer position at Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) is a critical role that involves close collaboration with developers, subject-matter experts (SMEs), physicians, and clinical operations staff. The primary responsibility of the BI Developer is to create and optimize reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that enhance LSCC's suite of reports and analyses. This position requires the ability to travel to various LSCC facilities as needed, ensuring that the BI Developer can effectively engage with teams across the organization. The role demands a strong focus on maintaining professional working relationships and delivering excellent customer service to all stakeholders involved. In this position, the BI Developer will design, develop, and deploy business intelligence solutions, utilizing tools such as Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). The developer will be responsible for writing and optimizing SQL queries and ETL stored procedures, particularly with Snowflake and SQL Server. Analyzing various types of technical and healthcare data, processes, and systems is a key aspect of the role, as is the creation of comprehensive documentation for new developments, updates, and enhancements aimed at both developers and end-users. The BI Developer will also build low-code applications using the PowerApps platform, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reporting platforms. Quality assurance testing and auditing of business intelligence products will be part of the responsibilities, along with validating results and reconciling discrepancies with data and end-user workflows. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to BI tools and data integration processes will be essential, as will supporting existing and creating new Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes. Effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders is crucial, and the BI Developer will also utilize and manage git repositories while performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellence in the technical skills required in one or more higher level programming languages (specifically SQL and/or a statistical or object-oriented language).
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of T-SQL experience with a strong emphasis on Reporting and Aggregating.
  • Experience with process improvement/automation and data visualization software such as Power BI.
  • Experience using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or similar report tools.
  • Statistics experience (particularly experience with R or SAS).
  • Working knowledge of healthcare terminology and structured vocabularies (e.g. ICD, CPT, NDC, etc.).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and the associated tables.
  • Experience with Collaboration tools like SharePoint or MS Teams.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing.
