About the position

Valmont is seeking a BI Intern to join the Shared Services division, focusing on driving understanding and decision-making from data. The intern will be responsible for planning, supporting, and launching efficient business and operations systems/processes, with an emphasis on quality improvement, data management, and process re-engineering. This role involves gathering and analyzing data to support business cases and projects, cleaning large datasets, and assisting in building a data validation process. The internship aims to provide hands-on learning experiences through project work and interaction with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of data sets to identify trends, relationships, and insights.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and data engineers to develop new data products.
  • Implement modifications to existing workflow processes to improve systems.
  • Address any data discrepancy issues across all open projects.
  • Take on ad hoc projects and cultivate your own ideas.
  • Deliver findings through impactful data visualizations and effective storytelling techniques.

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, or any quantitative discipline.
  • The ability to dedicate 20-25 hours a week.
  • A keen eye for detail and dedication to accuracy and quality.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem solving.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Power BI is a plus.
