About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is a key role within Cook Children's Health Care System, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing analytics tools and data solutions. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of business data needs and involves interfacing with various stakeholders to create reports, dashboards, and analytics that drive business actions. The Senior BI Developer will also mentor junior developers and contribute to complex projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality BI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement analytics tools and data solutions.
  • Gather requirements and analyze data to develop robust analytics solutions.
  • Interface with clinical, financial, and operational business leaders to design reports and dashboards.
  • Plan, design, architect, develop, test, and implement new BI solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain existing BI solutions.
  • Write relational and multidimensional database queries that meet performance objectives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and document best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior BI developers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, Data Engineer, Database Developer, or Technical/Systems/Application Analyst.
  • Expertise with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft BI stack, SAP Business Objects, TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, and Crystal Reports.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS.
  • Strong experience in data warehousing design and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Business Intelligence development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in business and technical requirements gathering and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare, provider, or managed care/insurance environment.
  • Holds current Epic certifications: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model.
  • Experience utilizing and supporting Epic Cogito tools such as Radar Dashboards and Reporting Workbench Reports.
  • Microsoft SQL certification, Python certification, or BI/analytics tool certification (Power BI, SAS, etc).
