About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer at Johns Hopkins University is responsible for data analytics, performance measurement, data collection, reporting, and data visualization. This role involves working with IT solutions to address high-priority organizational analytic problems, under the supervision of a Data Trust Analytic Team Leader. The position requires advanced technical knowledge and the ability to lead projects and collaborate with other analytic teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and fine-tune exploratory IT solutions, including coding, testing, debugging, designing, and implementing BI solutions.
• Research and plan analytic solutions for existing and new problems as directed by leadership.
• Lead the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence tools.
• Identify, research, and resolve technical problems independently.
• Ensure business intelligence applications enhance clinical and business decision-making capabilities.
• Make decisions using available resources to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, students, and staff.
• Recommend changes in departmental systems and processes and contribute ideas for solutions.
• Respond to urgent situations by assessing their importance and instituting appropriate actions.
• Communicate decisions to appropriate management and prepare incident reports as necessary.
• Prioritize daily tasks and assignments appropriately.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of related experience in healthcare IT, analytics, software development, or data management.
• Experience with Business Intelligence development tools such as Tableau and SAS, and programming tools such as R, Python, and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and working with external vendors.
• EDW internal certification required within 6 months for positions working with patient-related data.
• Certification such as Certified Analytics Professional or in a data analytic tool like Tableau Software or Epic required.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Knowledge in the assigned application and the platform on which it runs.

Benefits

• Competitive salary range of $85,500 - $149,800 annually, commensurate with experience.
• Full-time employment with a standard schedule of M-F, 8:30-5:00.
• Exempt status from overtime pay.
