About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer role at Garmin involves designing, enhancing, and developing applications within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process. The position requires collaboration with IT Analysts and team members to solve complex software problems, maintain existing applications, and mentor less experienced engineers. The developer will also be responsible for planning projects, conducting technical root cause analysis, and developing ETL and analytic applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides solutions for complex software problems for existing applications
  • Maintains, improves, and extends existing software with limited assistance from other associates
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment to determine approaches and solutions to technical problems
  • Reviews complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy/accuracy
  • Works with Garmin IT Analysts to develop and implement unit and system testing processes
  • Responsible for planning small to medium-sized projects or tasks
  • Makes substantial contributions to determining the feasibility of goals/objectives
  • Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced IT Software Engineers
  • Demonstrates proficient use of established standards and procedures
  • Participates in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs
  • Designs and develops ETL and analytic applications as part of the SDLC process

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
  • Proficiency in designing, enhancing, and developing single and multi-system applications
  • Ability to learn and understand secure coding practices
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Development experience using ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS, or DataStage
  • Experience with analytic tools such as Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Previous experience working in a team environment
