About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer at Johns Hopkins University is responsible for data analytics, performance measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualization, and information dissemination. This role involves working with IT solutions to address high-priority organizational analytic problems, under the supervision of a Data Trust Analytic Team Leader or other relevant leadership. The position requires advanced technical knowledge and the ability to lead projects and collaborate with other analytic teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and fine-tune exploratory IT solutions, including coding, testing, debugging, designing, and implementing BI solutions.
  • Research and plan analytic solutions for existing and new problems as directed by supervisors and leadership.
  • Lead the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence tools.
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems independently.
  • Ensure business intelligence applications enhance clinical and business decision-making capabilities.
  • Make recommendations for changes in departmental systems and processes.
  • Respond to urgent and unplanned situations by assessing their importance and instituting appropriate actions.
  • Communicate decisions to appropriate management and prepare incident reports as necessary.
  • Prioritize daily tasks and assignments appropriately.
  • Report and follow-up on software problems affecting workflow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related and progressive experience in healthcare IT, analytics, software development, or data management.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence development tools such as Tableau and SAS, and programming tools such as R, Python, and SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management or management and experience working with external vendors.
  • EDW internal certification required within 6 months for positions working with patient-related data.
  • Certification such as Certified Analytics Professional, project management, or a certification in a data analytic tool such as Tableau Software or Epic required.
  • Ability to obtain Epic Caboodle or Clarity Certification as requested in the first year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge in the assigned application and the platform on which it runs.
