About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer at Austin Regional Clinic plays a crucial role in delivering Business Intelligence (BI) solutions tailored for internal business partners. This position requires a strong focus on the design, development, implementation, and support of essential enterprise BI reports, primarily utilizing Tableau or similar reporting software. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of analytical, technical, and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with both business leaders and technical professionals. A commitment to maintaining compliance and confidentiality while promoting the organization's mission and philosophy is paramount. In this role, the Business Intelligence Developer will engage with end users to thoroughly understand their business needs, collaboratively identifying best practice solutions and defining report requirements. This may involve both on-site and remote interactions. A deep understanding of data and end-user workflows is essential for validating accurate results and reconciling discrepancies as they arise. The developer will be responsible for building data ETL processes that facilitate meaningful and efficient reporting, as well as developing reports, dashboards, universes, and extracts for end users. Training end users on the effective use of reports and BI reporting software is a key responsibility, along with maintaining security profiles for user access to data. The developer will monitor report performance, taking corrective actions to optimize or improve performance as necessary. Participation in the evaluation of BI utilities and tools is expected, along with coordinating application and integration configuration needs with other IT teams and end users. The role also involves assisting in the installation, configuration, and upgrades of BI software, documenting all processes used in production, and ensuring compliance with corporate quality assurance policies and required documentation. Regular attendance and adherence to company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, and the Code of Conduct, are also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with end users to understand business needs and define report requirements.
  • Build data ETL processes for efficient reporting.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, universes, and extracts for end users.
  • Train end users on the usage of reports and BI reporting software.
  • Maintain security profiles for end user access to data.
  • Monitor report performance and optimize as necessary.
  • Participate in the evaluation of BI utilities and tools.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrades of BI software.
  • Document the development of all processes used in Production and problem resolutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, and Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with technology or business focus and one (1) or more years of related technical experience, or a high school diploma with five (5) or more years of related technical experience.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Advanced working knowledge of relational database concepts.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge, preferably using PL-SQL and/or T-SQL.
  • Experience with Epic Clarity and Caboodle databases.
  • Experience with product administration and report writing software to deliver reporting solutions to users.
  • Experience with Tableau, Crystal Reports, and MS-Access preferred.
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and acquire new technological skills independently.
