The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is a highly technical and professional role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions specifically for the Electric Department. This position plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining specialized computer applications that support critical systems and functions within the department. The BI Developer will collaborate closely with various departments and divisions to understand their data needs, ultimately developing reporting and analytical solutions that provide actionable insights. Utilizing data warehousing, ETL processes, and data visualization tools, the BI Developer will support the company's analytical needs and strategic objectives. The role involves a variety of tasks, including data analysis and reporting, where the developer will gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications. They will design, develop, and deploy BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data models, while conducting data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions. In addition to data analysis, the BI Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining ETL processes to ensure data is accurately extracted, transformed, and loaded into data warehouses. They will monitor these processes to ensure data integrity and performance efficiency. The role also includes designing and implementing data warehouse architecture to support BI reporting and analytics needs, as well as maintaining data warehouse performance by optimizing queries and database structures. The BI Developer will create intuitive and interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. They will provide training and support to end-users on how to use these BI tools and interpret data insights. Quality assurance is another critical aspect of the role, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data through rigorous testing and validation of BI solutions. The developer will also maintain thorough documentation of BI solutions, including technical specifications, data mappings, and user guides, while providing ongoing support and maintenance to ensure these solutions continue to meet business needs. Collaboration and communication are key components of this role, as the BI Developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
