About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer at Harvard Medical School plays a crucial role in enhancing data-driven decision-making by developing and maintaining the Delphi data warehouse. This position involves consulting with various departments to ensure effective use of data for operational and reporting needs, providing insightful data visualizations and reports that facilitate informed decisions across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards for school-wide reporting.
  • Collaborate with smaller departments to deliver customized reporting solutions.
  • Develop robust Tableau Data sources for larger departments.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and reporting needs.
  • Gather and document detailed business requirements for reporting and dashboard solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends and insights.
  • Administer and manage Tableau Servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Mentor new Tableau users and foster a culture of data literacy.
  • Stay updated on business intelligence tools and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a stakeholder-facing Business Analyst role with a focus on data visualization and reporting.
  • Proficient in SQL and Tableau; portfolio of previous dashboard projects may be required.
  • Strong analytical skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across various organizational levels.
  • Proactive learner with a desire to expand skills in new technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred.
