About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer is a critical role within our healthcare client’s organization, primarily focused on leading the development of reporting and analytics solutions for the electronic health record (EHR) system. This position involves a comprehensive approach to understanding business needs, documenting requirements, and identifying the appropriate data sources to develop insightful reports that will be delivered to stakeholders. The BI Developer will work closely with the Assistant Director of Decision Support Services and the Senior Director of Finance Operations to prioritize tasks and manage the resolution of any escalated issues that may arise during the development process. In this role, the BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and performing thorough functional testing of extracts, reports, and visualization dashboards. The developer will utilize a variety of analytics tools and data sources, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Tableau, WebI, SSRS, Power BI, Caboodle, Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Universes, Registry Framework, Data Marts, and SlicerDicer. The ability to perform in-depth investigations and document future-state reporting specifications and application reporting functionality is essential for success in this position. The BI Developer will also be expected to have a strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, data structures, and reporting best practices within the healthcare environment. This includes extensive knowledge of quality measures reporting and the ability to translate complex business questions into actionable reports and BI query objects. The role requires a proactive approach to gathering, documenting, prioritizing, and tracking requirements to ensure that the developed solutions meet the needs of the organization and its stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of reporting and analytics solutions for the EHR system.
• Gather business needs and document requirements for reporting solutions.
• Identify appropriate data sources for reporting and analytics.
• Develop reports and deliver them to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Decision Support Services and the Senior Director of Finance Operations on work priorities.
• Manage the resolution of escalated issues related to reporting and analytics.
• Design, develop, validate, and perform thorough functional testing of extracts, reports, and visualization dashboards.
• Utilize analytics tools and data sources such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, WebI, SSRS, Power BI, and others for reporting.
• Perform in-depth investigation and documentation of future-state reporting specifications and application reporting functionality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of Tapestry experience (certification is a plus).
• Strong SQL Datamart experience.
• 5+ years of Medicare Advantage experience.
• Epic Clarity Data Model certification in one or more modules (to be obtained within 120 days of hire).
• Experience in Quality Measures Reporting preferred.
• Epic build experience in a live environment strongly preferred.
• Epic implementation experience specific to clinical workflows and order management strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a healthcare-related organization.
• 5+ years demonstrated expertise in MS SQL Server or Oracle.
• Strong SQL Programming Skills on MS SQL Server/Oracle platforms.
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures, and reporting.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Tableau dashboard capabilities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and metadata skills.
• Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports and BI query objects.
• Experience in gathering, documenting, prioritizing, and tracking requirements.
