About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer II (BIE) role within the Centralized Data and Insights Team (CDI) at AWS is focused on developing scalable reporting solutions that drive insights for the AWS Specialist Partner Organization (ASP). This position requires a blend of technical expertise in data processing and strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders. The BIE will leverage large datasets to create actionable insights and reporting artifacts that support the sales and operational strategies of AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data pipelines from disparate sources to ingest, transform, and store data in a scalable format.
  • Gather and understand data requirements, working with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality and scalable data solutions.
  • Dive deep into requirements to unearth optimal reporting design with Operations leads and drive constructive technical discussions.
  • Build end-to-end BI solutions.
  • Determine lineage to understand the chain of custody and transformation of data to build enablement material.
  • Create interactive data visuals using tools like QuickSight, Tableau, and Matplotlib.
  • Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics for better understanding of business performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python) for data analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
