About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer for Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) Inbound Analytics plays a crucial role in supporting the rapid growth of the AMXL supply chain team. This newly formed organization is focused on designing and launching innovative business models that enhance customer experience, particularly in the delivery of large items such as TVs and furniture. The AMXL team is dedicated to providing a white glove service, which includes not only delivering large parcels but also unpacking, assembling, installing, and testing these items in customers' homes. As the team expands its fulfillment and delivery network across North America, the Business Intelligence Engineer will be instrumental in developing business metrics, mining data for consumer insights, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive business success. In this role, the Business Intelligence Engineer will be responsible for identifying necessary metrics and creating comprehensive reports that enhance understanding of the business operations. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, who is passionate about delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will blend advanced reporting capabilities with strong critical thinking and project management skills, ensuring that the AMXL supply chain operates efficiently and effectively. The Business Intelligence Engineer will partner with various internal teams across multiple time zones, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions. This includes collaborating with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define AMXL data and business intelligence development needs. The role also involves conducting deep dive investigations into operational execution and business problems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leading or supporting implementation efforts. By analyzing and visualizing large-scale geo-spatial logistics and transaction data, the engineer will determine user behavior and delivery process issues, providing solid analysis reports with actionable recommendations. Additionally, the engineer will serve as a liaison between operations business teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve the goal of providing insights into current delivery performance and future improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams and time zones, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define AMXL data and BI development needs.
  • Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams to identify new BI capabilities and projects.
  • Conduct deep dive investigations into operations execution and business problems, identify opportunities, and lead or support implementation.
  • Analyze and visualize large scale geo-spatial logistics and transaction data to determine user behavior or delivery process problems, and output solid analysis report with recommendation.
  • Serve as liaison between operations business teams to provide actionable insights into current delivery performance and ad hoc investigations into future improvements or innovations.
  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
  • Serve as liaison between North America and Europe teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration as well as standardizing processes across the globe to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement end to end reporting for the worldwide operational teams to highlight improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
