About the position

The Chronicle team at Amazon is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer II who will tackle complex data and metrics challenges to enhance business insights. This role involves end-to-end ownership of data products that support decision-making across various organizations and geographies, emphasizing a customer-centric approach and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex and ambiguous data and metric problems.
  • Influence business-critical questions across multiple organizations and geographies.
  • Manage multiple projects, including planning, prioritization, and task delegation.
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable, automated processes for data extraction, processing, and evaluation.
  • Define data-driven approaches and metrics strategy to uncover new insights.
  • Source, manipulate, and visualize data to tell business stories.
  • Communicate strategic findings and recommendations clearly.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business terms and vice versa.
  • Collaborate with technology and data teams to support the development of tools and dashboards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role.
  • 2+ years experience with SQL, ETL, Data Warehouse solutions, and databases.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.
  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience working as a BIE or related specialty.
  • Proficient in statistical programming language (e.g., Python) for data extraction/manipulation, statistical analysis/modeling, and automation.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
