About the position
The Business Intelligence Engineer position within the North America S&OP Analytics team at Amazon.com Services LLC is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the efficiency of the package delivery network. This team is responsible for managing the fulfillment of millions of products weekly, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The successful candidate will be tasked with driving performance measurement and management, innovation, and execution in last-mile delivery operations. In this role, the Business Intelligence Engineer will collaborate closely with both technical and business teams to optimize planning and execution processes. The individual will be responsible for developing analysis and visualization tools that support the network's operational needs. This includes retrieving, integrating, visualizing, and presenting critical data that informs decision-making and improves operational efficiency. The role demands a strong analytical mindset, business acumen, and the ability to work comfortably with technical teams and systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment characterized by ambiguity and will possess a keen attention to detail. They will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and partner with internal teams to gather requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions. The position also involves engineering critical input and output metrics across the full operations spectrum, creating performance metrics to measure operational success, and identifying root causes and trends to prescribe actionable plans for delivery stations across the North America region.
Responsibilities
- Working with technology and analytics teams to support the development of tools, automation, and dashboards
- Engineering critical input and output metrics across the full operations spectrum
- Creating process performance metrics to measure operational performance, identify root causes and trends, and prescribe action plans for delivery stations around the NA region
- Managing metrics across multiple projects simultaneously
- Communicating with and supporting various internal stakeholders and external audiences
- Partnering with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions
- Collaborating with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define S&OP data and BI development needs
Requirements
- Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts
- Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
