About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer position within the North America S&OP Analytics team at Amazon is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the efficiency of the package delivery network. This team is responsible for managing the fulfillment of millions of products weekly, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and implementing analysis and visualization tools that support the optimization of last-mile delivery processes. This role requires a blend of analytical skills and technical expertise, as the engineer will work closely with both technical and business teams to drive performance measurement and management across the logistics system. In this position, the Business Intelligence Engineer will retrieve, integrate, visualize, and present critical data that informs decision-making and process improvements. The role involves engineering key input and output metrics that span the entire operations spectrum, creating performance metrics to assess operational effectiveness, identify root causes of issues, and recommend actionable plans for delivery stations across the North America region. The engineer will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that metrics are accurately tracked and communicated to various internal stakeholders and external audiences. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the engineer will partner with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions. Additionally, the engineer will work alongside Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define the data and business intelligence development needs for S&OP. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and possess a strong attention to detail, thriving in an environment that deals with large-scale data.

Responsibilities

  • Working with technology and analytics teams to support the development of tools, automation, and dashboards
  • Engineering critical input and output metrics across the full operations spectrum
  • Creating process performance metrics to measure operational performance, identify root causes and trends, and prescribe action plans for delivery stations around the NA region
  • Managing metrics across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Communicating with and supporting various internal stakeholders and external audiences
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define S&OP data and BI development needs

Requirements

  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business
  • Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
