About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer in Workforce Analytics at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to drive business decisions. This role involves designing and implementing self-service reporting tools, ensuring accurate headcount information, and providing data-driven insights to support strategic planning and resource management. The position requires collaboration with various teams to identify key business metrics and address data challenges, ultimately enabling effective decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and implementation of self-service headcount reporting tools.
  • Ensure delivery of accurate and timely, benchmarked headcount information to the organization to support decision-making and planning.
  • Act as a consultative partner to the Resource Planning team providing data-driven insights to support Specialist headcount strategy.
  • Identify and address headcount data challenges within the organization, predicting future issues that may arise and building proactive solutions.
  • Conduct consistent data validation audits, continuous headcount data maintenance, and address data gaps as they arise.
  • Work directly with the models/data and large data sets using technical tools.
  • Write high quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (e.g., Redshift, MySQL).
  • Build data models leveraging Python.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • 5+ years of prior experience in Business Operations, Strategic Planning, Finance, Management Consulting, or other related fields.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, Bedrock, and Lambda.
  • Experience with HR/headcount management org designs, systems, or processes.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to translate ambiguous business requirements into complex analyses and actionable insights.
