About the position
CMDA's Livonia office is seeking a highly motivated attorney with 3+ years of business and litigation experience to assist with litigation and general commercial matters. CMDA practices in the areas of business law, insurance defense, municipal law, employment and labor law, and general litigation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with litigation and general commercial matters
- Manage cases from inception through trial
- Prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Manage discovery
- Take and defend depositions
- Conduct legal research, analysis, and writing
Requirements
- JD from an ABA-Approved law school with excellent academic credentials
- Current Michigan Bar admission in good standing
- Minimum of three years of business and litigation experience
- Ability to manage cases from inception through trial
- Outstanding analytical and creative thinking capabilities
- Excellent writing, research, negotiation, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and electronic discovery platforms
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner
Nice-to-haves
- Public entity defense experience is a plus, but not required
- High energy and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to take on new projects and learn new skills quickly
