About the position

The Business & Legal Affairs Intern at Surfline is an opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. Interns will work closely with the Vice President of Legal and cross-functional teams on various legal and business matters, providing insights into in-house legal work. The role involves exposure to multiple areas of law, including corporate, employment, data privacy, and intellectual property, while adapting to changing business needs and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support legal and business affairs projects.
• Assist with drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial contracts and related documentation.
• Conduct research on legal issues related to business operations, including employment law, data privacy regulations, and compliance matters.
• Contribute to company-wide legal and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and best practices.
• Proactively provide and seek feedback to improve processes and deliverables.
• Maintain accurate records and assist in the organization of legal documents and databases.

Requirements

• Enrollment in an accredited law school (2L or 3L).
• Strong interest in learning about in-house legal practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented and organized.
• Comfortable reaching out and initiating communication with various team members.
• Adaptable and able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive, collaborative, and professional approach to work.
