About the position

The Business Librarian at East Carolina University (ECU) will provide specialized library services to the College of Business, supporting faculty and students through research consultations, library instruction, and the development of instructional materials. This role involves managing a collection development budget, participating in accreditation processes, and engaging in outreach to faculty. The position emphasizes professional development and collaboration within the academic library community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized library services to the College of Business faculty and students.
  • Develop library instructional materials that support the curriculum.
  • Create and maintain library research guides.
  • Assist students and faculty through research consultations and library instruction sessions.
  • Manage a collection development budget for the College of Business programs and departments.
  • Participate in accreditation visits and reports.
  • Manage an outreach program to College of Business faculty.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and assess library collections and services.
  • Integrate library resources into teaching and learning.
  • Engage in professional development and library, university, and professional service activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic libraries and their application in business librarianship.
  • Knowledge of library subject specialist/liaison best practices and services.
  • Experience providing reference services.
  • Experience providing library instruction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • A degree in business administration, management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Relevant subject expertise as evidenced by professional experience or non-degree coursework.
