About the position

The Business Lines Territory Manager is responsible for owning and managing an assigned territory, with a focus on driving profitable premium growth to meet financial and operational goals. This role operates under limited to moderate supervision and involves managing a diverse range of agency partnerships, handling over 200 agency storefronts potentially across multiple states, and optimizing territory performance. The Territory Manager creates, implements, and executes strategies for both the territory and individual agencies, utilizing all available company programs, tools, and resources while collaborating with internal business partners. The position emphasizes business lines and requires the manager to work across a wide array of commercial products, coverages, and market appetites. The Territory Manager conducts agency outreach primarily through virtual means, including audio and video conferences, supplemented by email and other digital media. A significant part of the role involves collaborating closely with agents and brokers to drive the flow of small commercial business, balancing engagement with agents to secure larger targeted accounts, and managing the account pipeline from start to finish. In addition to managing renewal processes across multiple underwriting segments, the Territory Manager is tasked with leading territory and agency management processes, which include agency prospecting, business planning, engagement, training, compensation, and plant optimization. Building and cultivating mutually beneficial agency partnerships is crucial, as is establishing oneself as a trusted advisor by delivering product knowledge, underwriting philosophy, and training to support retention and new business development. The role also involves creating high-quality agency strategies based on agency analysis, insights, and local marketplace expertise to achieve direct written premium, profit, and new business goals. Overall, the Business Lines Territory Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the profitability and success of the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum three years of insurance experience within a carrier or agency.
  • Knowledge of company services, products, marketing techniques, and insurance industry trends.
  • Proven success in revenue growth and sales in a prior role.
  • Strong partnership development, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of production management, claims, loss prevention, underwriting, and agency operations.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and business development skills.
  • Excellent time management and team orientation skills.
  • Must be licensed by the state if required.
