About the position

The Business Manager - Operations Management at Houston Fence Company is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of the fencing business. This role focuses on managing day-to-day operations, ensuring timely project completion, optimizing resources, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, project management, and strategic planning skills to enhance the company's efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
• Develop and implement business strategies to expand market share and drive growth in both commercial and residential sectors.
• Prepare budgets, set financial targets, and create forecasts to ensure profitability.
• Build and maintain relationships with commercial and residential clients to generate leads and secure new contracts.
• Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution from initial design to final installation, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
• Manage supply chain and inventory, including procurement of materials and negotiation with suppliers for cost efficiency.
• Implement quality assurance measures to maintain high standards of workmanship across all fencing projects.
• Optimize operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
• Monitor project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets and financial goals.
• Oversee financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, to track company performance.
• Develop competitive pricing models for various fencing products and services.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set KPIs, and develop incentive programs to enhance team performance.
• Manage workforce planning to align staffing levels with project demands and seasonal fluctuations.
• Serve as the support to sales as needed for clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial consultation to post-installation support.
• Collaborate on high profile, large projects with the sales team to create proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to project delays, safety, and cost overruns.
• Leverage technology to streamline operations, including the use of project management software and CRM tools.
• Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes for enhanced efficiency.
• Utilize data analytics for inventory management, sales forecasting, and resource allocation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in business management, operations, or a similar role, ideally in construction, contracting, or home improvement industries.
• Proven track record of managing budgets, financial reporting, and achieving business growth.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
• Proficiency in using project management software, CRM systems, Company Cam (beta testing), and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of local regulations, zoning laws, and construction safety standards is a plus.
• Experience in the field and working with subcontractors.

Nice-to-haves

• Fencing background and/or strong commercial project management experience.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
