The Business, Marketing, & Consulting Industry Specialist at Binghamton University plays a crucial role in supporting students' career success by leveraging the knowledge and resources of employers, particularly those in the regional area, and alumni. This position is integral to the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development, focusing on enhancing employer connections and addressing workforce development needs through skill-building programs, improving overall placement rates, and increasing internship opportunities for students. The Specialist will work closely with a diverse range of employers, from large multinational corporations to small nonprofits, to create pathways for student engagement and participation in the business, marketing, and consulting sectors. In this role, the Specialist will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with industry representatives, acting as a liaison between Binghamton University students and potential employers. This includes managing employer relationships and actively curating internship and job opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. The Specialist will champion the use of internships as a vital hiring pipeline tool, providing consultation to employers to develop robust internship and shadowing programs that benefit college students. Additionally, the Specialist will engage with local workforce and economic development organizations to facilitate networking and skills training opportunities, aiming to retain students within the local and regional job markets. The position requires conducting in-depth industry research to stay informed about employment and recruiting trends relevant to the university's diverse academic programs. The Specialist will represent Binghamton University at various recruitment events, both on and off-campus, to foster relationships with new and existing employers. The role may also involve occasional weekend and evening commitments, as well as travel within the region, state, and country to support employer engagement initiatives.
