About the position

The Business Office Coordinator (BOC) at the Premier at Exton Surgery Center is responsible for overseeing all business office functions and managing the financial operations of the center. This role involves enforcing policies and procedures, supervising staff, and ensuring efficient revenue cycle management. The BOC plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity of the center while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all business office functions and financial position at the Surgery Center.
  • Enforce policies, protocols, and procedures of the center.
  • Manage revenue cycle activities including insurance verification and EOB interpretation.
  • Hire and supervise Business Office Staff according to personnel management principles.
  • Oversee medical record activities consistent with clinical needs.
  • Provide orientation and training to business office staff.
  • Assist with employee job performance evaluations.
  • Prepare monthly statistical and financial reports.
  • Create and manage case mix, managed care, and staff tracking spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate with CBO regarding center billing and collections.
  • Provide vacation coverage at reception/check-in and for insurance verification.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent preferred but not required; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience working with physicians is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD 9 orthopedic coding is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in medical insurance verification is required.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory position preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret EOB correctly is required.
  • Must be computer savvy with excellent Excel and 10-key skills, typing at 40 wpm or more.
  • Experience in an outpatient or medical facility setting is a must.
