About the position

The Business Office Manager at Berthoud Care and Rehabilitation is responsible for overseeing all business office and payroll functions within the skilled nursing facility. This role emphasizes the importance of compliance with established policies and procedures while managing the facility's accounting functions. The manager will supervise the business office staff, ensure efficient operations, and maintain financial records, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the facility and the well-being of its residents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all business office and payroll procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of the Business Office and Payroll functions.
  • Manage the facility's accounting functions under the general supervision of the Executive Director.
  • Supervise and develop assigned business office staff.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing to meet department needs in accordance with established PPDs.
  • Evaluate payor sources of potential resident admissions and advise the Executive Director.
  • Prepare claims for provided services for submission to payor sources in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Monitor and collect accounts receivables and report delinquent accounts to the Administrator.
  • Engage in efforts to collect outstanding accounts receivables and make recommendations for categorizing bad debt.
  • Safeguard and manage resident trust funds and monitor internal controls for compliance.
  • Establish and maintain a system of financial recordkeeping including ledgers, recording payments, and preparing bank deposits.
  • Establish and maintain a system of accounts payable including invoicing and purchase orders.
  • Maintain the general ledger including preparation of journal entries and accounts analysis.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and review them with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure that admission agreements are obtained from all new patients and are properly completed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility.
  • 1 year of experience as a Business Office Manager.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of financial recordkeeping and accounting procedures.
