About the position

The Business Office Manager at Anberry Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions of the facility, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and cost reimbursement regulations specific to long-term care operations. This role is crucial in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the overall mission of providing high-quality patient care in a skilled nursing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement written policies and procedures governing the accounting functions of the facility.
  • Balance daily census to Nurses' census and post daily cash deposits.
  • Attend department head meetings and audit resident accounts, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist in completing initial and re-authorization Treatment Authorization Requests, including necessary documentation for approval.
  • Supervise Medi-Cal and Managed Medi-Cal billing, coinsurance billing, CIFs, appeals, TARs, and authorizations.
  • Meet Accounts Receivable aging goals on 120+ balances and manage account statuses.
  • Research and perform collection activities on accounts, including claims submission and follow-up correspondence.
  • Enter and maintain account data on the accounting computer system.
  • Disburse, receipt, and maintain records of resident trust accounts.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures, including posting charges and processing Medicare claims.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Receptionists.
  • Maintain patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA laws and facility policy.
  • Participate in facility Department Head meetings and functions as directed by the facility Administrator.

Requirements

  • Decentralized business office experience in a skilled nursing facility is required.
  • Experience as a Skilled Nursing Facility Business Office Manager or ABOM is necessary.
  • Experience billing Medicare, HMO, Medi-Cal, and Private payor sources for Skilled Nursing level of care is essential.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Managed Medi-Cal, and HMO billing requirements and procedures is required.
  • Ability to manage and train business office staff is necessary.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Accounting and cost reimbursement experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other departments in the facility is essential.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
