As a Business Office Representative Clerk at Barranca Surgery Center, you will play a crucial role in supporting the facility by performing various business office functions. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to managing medical records, credentialing, admissions/intake, accounts payable, billing, collections, insurance verification, transaction posting, and maintaining clinical logs. This position is integral to ensuring that the surgery center operates smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall patient experience and care delivery. In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling surgeries within the surgery template in the computer system, ensuring that all pertinent information is accurately recorded. You will handle calls from physician offices regarding patient scheduling and any inquiries related to surgeries. A key aspect of your job will be to answer phones in a pleasant manner, addressing the needs of both physician offices and patients promptly. You will also take messages and transfer calls to other departments as necessary, ensuring effective communication within the facility. Additionally, you will perform pre-registration tasks, ensuring that authorization is obtained from the physician's office prior to scheduled surgeries. Completing necessary paperwork for registration and utilizing the computer system to generate information for surgical or special procedures will be part of your daily duties. You will maintain a log for canceled appointments and perform various clerical tasks such as photocopying forms, preparing patient charts, and managing faxes. Keeping the surgery scheduling area clean and orderly will also be part of your responsibilities. You will verify all scheduled cases as soon as possible and contact patients with financial responsibilities to inform them of the center's payment policies and available payment options. It is essential that all insurance verifications and patient calls are clearly documented in the patient's account to maintain accurate records and facilitate smooth operations.
